Manakau

Manakau is south of Levin just off State Highway One.

In its early days, sawmills, flaxmills and a dairy factory provided employment while the main trunk railway provided transport.

Take a wander past the historic buildings from the 1800s, or drive 5km to the site of the first pa established in the district by Te Rauparaha at Waikawa Beach.
